ACTION 21 – Recycling Furniture. Environmental group Action 21 have launched a new initiative in Leamington Spa with help from Coventry and Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust. The Recycle Warehouse is based at the Leamington refuse collection plant and accepts donations of good condition furniture and household goods which would otherwise be disposed. The goods are then sold at very low prices and any profits from the venture are used to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable living in the local community. One full time position has been created to run the Warehouse with other assistance being provided from many volunteers. The venture has been so successful that the loan was repaid within 6 months giving CWRT the money ‘back in the pot’ and an opportunity to provide another business venture with funding.
