Name: Louise Hart
Business: HART + CO
A brand new, quirky kitchen and bar in Leamington Spa.
Q. What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I felt that no other business truly had that family value anymore. My business is a celebration of what our family does and is a credit to my parents. I believe there is no one else like us in the industry!
Q. Tell us about your business?
HART + CO is a family run business. Just like dinner times in the Hart household everything is designed to share and for everyone to dip in. The menu has been created using my mum’s recipes and she has trained our chefs how to cook meals as she does!
Our cocktails are based on the personalities of five key family members served in quirky ways.
Q. How did you go about setting up your business?
For quite some time I struggled with the process of getting started. I approached the Chamber of Commerce who really brought my concept to life.
Q. What has been your biggest challenge so far with running your own business?
Knowing who to contact. Networking really has been key!
Q. How did/have you overcome these challenges?
I joined the chamber and attended all of their events. I had to step out of my comfort zone and be loud, proud and shout about my business!
Q. What do you love about running your own business?
I love helping create memories for people. Dining out or even at home is so important to family life. I look to create a comfortable and trusting environment bringing friends and family closer together.
Q. Are there any top tips that you would like to share with others thinking about starting or growing their own business?
Just go for it. Starting a new business can be scary, doubts may stop you from moving forward and pursuing your dream. However my advice is just keep going and never, ever give up because you will always wonder what if!
Q. How much did you apply for and over what term?
£9800 over 5 years.
Q. Why did you access financial support through CWRT?
I had over spent on the renovation on the property due contractual terms not being met and as a result required further funding.
Q. What support did you receive from CWRT?
The process was extremely simple, CWRT ensured I was borrowing a realistic amount that was required to move my business forward.
Q. How has the loan provided helped you?
The loan has allowed me to complete the set-up of my business and open doors that may have otherwise been closed to me!
Q. Has the loan helped you to create any jobs?
Yes, as a result of the loan I have been able to employ 10 members of staff.
